Setting SMTP Email Defaults

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

This option is not currently available for systems running Windows7.

ContactGenie DataPort includes its own email client for the sending of activation/deactivation requests (if required), commandline template result notices and problem reports (if and when required). These defaults must be set on a system where Outlook has not been installed or none of the email capabilities will be available

CDP will first check to see if the email defaults have been set and, if yes, this method will be used for any emails issued via CDP. If the defaults have not been set, CDP will check to see if Outlook has been installed in which case, all email communications will be sent via the Outlook client.

The drawback of using the Outlook client for the purposes of sending emails is that nothing will be sent until Outlook is opened which may not be a normal operating environment. All CDP primary functions for import/export are independent of Outlook whether or not Outlook is also running at the time.

The default SMTP email settings are as shown below:

If the Email Processing Notice option is set to anything other than <Never>, at least one recipient must be entered in the <TO> list.
