Test CommandLine

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Test Command Line provides 3 functions:

1.Shows the structure of the command line to be used specifically for the Windows Task Manager to run CDP in unattended mode via the command line (structure may differ for other 3rd party scheduler)

2.Runs the template as if it were being run from the command line to ensure that verify that no problems will occur.

Notes:

#1 - Select TmpltID

Select any available pre-existing template (import or export)

#2 - Run Quiet

If checked, no error messages will be displayed which is the normal mode when actually running from the command line. All messages that would normally be displayed are recorded to the Message Log file. This is the normal operating mode when run via the command line.

In addition to the normal log files, an operational log is also created (CGRunFail.log) is created in the directory where CDP has been installed indicating the cause for any abnormal termination).

#3 - Simulate

If checked, this will perform a any import process without updating any Outlook contact items but otherwise would perform all other functions required.

#4 - Template Info

Shows the contact folder (the target folder if an import template or the source folder if an export template), the message class to be used for the template and the either the data source (for import) or output file (for export).

Command Line Failures

If an error is encountered while running in command line mode, in addition to all information captured in the regular logs, an additional log (CGRunFail.log) will be created in the folder in which it is run from indicating the failure and a "non-zero" result will be returned which can be tested for when CDP is run from within a batch file.
